We Belong to the Sand is a project that presents a selection of original works painted by Lisa Lazzaro. It tells the story of a very profound bond: that between the artist and the region of Iraqi Kurdistan, in the Middle East, where she currently lives.
The paintings retrace the places, faces and colours of this land, where pain and passion seem to mingle in an intricate and intense tangle of history and culture. And over there, the sand, omnipresent, like a thin veil covering everything, becomes the silent witness of what happens in our lives and which, in some way, binds us inextricably to one another.
